Facilities

  • Computer Laboratory for Reactor Simulations (belong to NEP). This laboratory, with an area of 300 square feet, is located on the 3rd floor of ECSC building. It has been used for research and education of reactor simulation for four years. The room is equipped with 5 high-end computer workstations with windows 7 operation system. MATLAB, Maple, ROOT, R, and Visual C++ environment are installed.

  • Applied Radiation Science Laboratory (belong to NEP). This laboratory, with an area of 700 square feet, is located on the 3rd floor of ECSC building. It has been used for radiochemistry research and education for many years. The room is equipped with two HPGe detectors, 10 N210/NBC G-M Counters, 10 NaI(TI) detectors. These detectors are coupled with ST360 radiation counters and Genie 2000 spectrum analysis software. 12 windows 7 workstations are set up with MATLAB and LabVIEW software. This lab can be used as the benchtop for training students with hand-on experience on real-time data acquisition system.

  • Computer Server Room (belong to DMCS). This server room is specially air-conditioned and has the capacity of 50 servers (10 occupied already). Two servers (photon.scsu.edu and neutron.scsu.edu) of NEP program will be located at this server room soon (currently they are at ARSL lab). Software in these server includes GEANT4 and MCNP simulation packages. Both of them are equipped with Ubuntu operation system.

  • Cyber Security Laboratory (belong to DMCS). Cybersecurity training lab equipped with hardware and software for reverse engineering, vulnerability identification, malicious software analysis, threat Intelligence and high-performance computing and analytics. All computers have multi-level, secure software systems and collaboration tools installed.

  • Bay one area at the Transit Research Center. This laboratory, with an area of 950 square feet, is located on the newly established transit research center. It will be used as the space for moving SRNL original testbed to SCSU.
